Would you like to strengthen your core area?
That is the part of your body around your torso, i.e. abdomen, hips, and the lower back muscles.
A Stand Up Paddle Board is most effective for this, especially if you complete a BootCamp Training on it. It helps with back problems, too!
Well, and besides it is an efficient all-round training:
1. Paddling strengthens mostly the shoulders and arms, especially triceps.
2. The posture on the board creates tension from the ankle to the neck muscles, which benefits shortened abdominal muscles and the legs, as you have to continuously counter balance small waves on the board.
3. The permanent balancing exercises legs and the deep muscles in the torso, i.e. your core muscles that assist you in holding your balance.
4. Your arms are not only being strengthened by performing burpees on the board but also simply by paddling, as the resistance of the water should not be underestimated.
5. And if you speed up a little bit as well, you will even test your endurance.
With the Stand Up Paddle you will cover the same training elements as with the BootCamp Training.
Now you can imagine how awesome it is to combine the Paddle with the BootCamp Training. Besides the fun and action of a group it will demand a lot from your body and you will certainly not avoid sore muscles ?
We have tried it, and it was an amazing morning.
First, we started with warm-up and strengthening on land, in order to prepare the body for the water and the SUP in an optimal way, as it was the first time on the board for many of us.
Then, we continued with a couple of exercises with the SUP on firm ground, and shortly after that we went into the water. Even the beginners among us were able to stand securely on the board after a short period of time, and already we were off onto the lake for our first BootCamp exercises. From push-ups, to burpees, sit-ups, and squats – everything was included, and it was great fun.
This is one of the best work outs with the current temperatures, and one that I can highly recommend.
Now you only have to keep your fingers crossed for nonstop great weather until then 🙂
