Don’t give the Monday Blues a chance

Monday blues – for most of you, Monday is probably the worst day of the week. Maybe even Sunday evening, when you are thinking about the start of the week when you have to switch from mellow weekend mode to the hectic pace at work.

During my kinesiology training I became very familiar with this topic. At the time I was asking myself where this feeling came from that I was getting every Sunday evening, this tightness in my chest when I started to think about the next day.

I was then still employed full-time and not very happy with the work environment. That was the reason why I did not feel joy and had no energy for the drudgery that started every Monday.

So I asked myself,

what do I have to do to make Sunday evening feel like Friday evening, and Monday morning like a Sunday brunch?

I believe the answer is not that hard to find when you take a good look at yourself and are mindful of what you are feeling. What would it be like if we could live our lives doing what makes our hearts sing. OK, this might be a touch philosophic, but I really believe this is key.

If my job feels like a hobby that lets me live some of my dreams, then this work no longer weighs you down. For many this might sound like utter luxury, as we all have to earn a living. I just keep thinking:

Every project that you approach with your heart will lead you to success – on a personal and maybe even financial level.

For four years now I have been living with a lot less, but I still don’t want to change back, because everything that I experienced and created, and all the people I could motivate made these hurdles shrink to small hills that you just take in stride on a long and beautiful hike.

I don’t want to make you turn your entire life upside down. It is enough to integrate things into your life – perhaps especially on Mondays – that bring you joy, such as a dinner with your loved ones, a long walk in the sunshine during lunchtime, starting your morning commute with your favorite music, getting up a bit earlier to have breakfast and read a newspaper before all the stress at work can get a hold.

Wouldn’t that be a realistic first step?

Why don’t you also ask yourself

what can I change in my life so the weekdays become more vibrant and I can ban the words ‘Monday blues’ from my vocabulary?

I am looking forward to tips and suggestions on this topic in the comment section – then we can all inspire each other.
